We cordially invite you to the opening of the exhibition Maria Bartuszová – Being Nature, which will take place on June 17, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at Mirbach Palace.
“I want to work with clean principles. I believe that shapes, in and of themselves, have a powerful psychological impact – for example: angular, sharp, inorganic shapes convey a sense of coldness; rounded, organic shapes convey warmth; and touching rounded shapes can evoke a feeling of a tenderness, an embrace – perhaps even erotic sensations.”

The exhibition uses a holistic approach to explore the theme of humanity’s relationship with nature. It examines abstract, geometric, and biomorphic forms, while reflecting on themes of ecology and feminism. Nature was an essential part of the artist's creative thinking; the idea of the world as an infinite space, a universe that expresses itself imaginatively. From the beginning of her career as a sculptress, Maria Bartuszová (1936–1996) focused on natural phenomena and cycles, such as rain, wind, and, later, melting snow. She embodied their changeable and ephemeral nature, their movement, temporality, rhythm, and power, sculpting them into solid, fixed forms and masses in the shapes of raindrops, grains, and eggs...

For the opening of Mária Bartuszová’s exhibition “Being Nature”, musician Daniel Kordík will perform electronic compositions alongside pieces created specially for the occasion.
DANIEL KORDÍK Kordik’s music making spans across three domains: electronic music, free improvisations and field recordings. Over the years, he's been involved in several projects, including the hardware noise duo Jamka and his solo and collaboration ventures, which span free improv and field recordings. Together with Edward Lucas and N.O. Moore he co-runs London based Earshots Recordings which focuses on free improvised music. (earshots.bandcamp.com) His music has been released on labels like Weltschmerzen, LOM, Urbsounds Collective, Takuroku, Superpang, Baba Vanga, Sub Rosa, Confront Recordings, Scatter Archive, Earshots Recordings and Proto Sites. Daniel Kordik works at Czech Radio as a sound designer and is one of the curators for Bratislava annual NEXT: Advance Music Festival.
