Bratislava City Gallery

Applies to permanent exhibitions, temporary exhibitions, programmes, and events taking place at the following venues: Pálffy Palace, Panská Str. 19 (hereinafter "PP") and Mirbach Palace, Františkánske nám. 11 (hereinafter "MP").
  1. Visitor access to all GMB exhibition spaces is permitted upon purchase/presentation of a valid ticket. The GMB ticket office will issue each visitor with a ticket that states the validity period and extent of admission entitlement. For security reasons, a limit may be set on visitor numbers to certain exhibitions. Organised groups are restricted to a maximum of 30 persons. Visitors are obliged to follow instructions given by GMB staff.
  2. Visitors acknowledge that their movements within GMB premises are continuously recorded by the camera system installed for the protection of the gallery premises and exhibits, and that these recordings are retained for 14 days in case of need of processing by the police department of the Slovak Republic.
  3. General information about admission fees is posted at the ticket offices. Entrance fees may be paid by bank card or by cash in euros. GMB cashiers only accept VISA, Mastercard, Diners cards. Any payments by invoice are handled by the GMB accounting department. A full list of admission prices may be found on the GMB website.
  4. Before entering exhibition spaces, visitors must leave in the cloakroom all items larger than 30 x 40 cm or longer than 40 cm, such as umbrellas, bags, luggage, and backpacks. Outer clothing, such as coats, are also to be stored in the cloakroom. Valuable items (camcorders, cameras, video equipment etc.) may be stored in a securable locker. Loss of a locker key is subject to a €20 compensatory payment.
  5. It is forbidden to enter the exhibition areas with food or drink (except during special opening events), with a weapon, or with any animal except a guide dog. Smoking, including of electronic cigarettes, is strictly forbidden throughout the GMB's indoor areas. Smoking is prohibited in the courtyards of both palaces.
  6. Unless otherwise stated, visitors may enter the exhibition area with a baby stroller, mobility walker, or wheelchair. Entrance to the MP is wheelchair accessible, and the upper floors may be reached by lift. Only the ground floor of the PP is wheelchair accessible.
  7. The GMB provides free admission for a personal assistant of a visitor with reduced mobility provided it is requested in advance (by telephone, or in person at the GMB ticket office).
  8. Unless otherwise stated, the GMB premises are open daily except Mondays from 11:00 until 18:00, including public holidays, and on Wednesdays from 13:00 until 20:00. Information is available on the GMB’s website and social media about any specific changes to opening hours or any special closures.
  9. Ticket sales commence when exhibition spaces open, and usually finish 15 minutes before the gallery closes.
  10. Staff will notify visitors when 15 minutes remain before closing of the gallery, and all visitors must vacate the premises before the designated time.
  11. It is strictly forbidden for visitors to touch the exhibited artifacts, artworks, frames, pedestals, showcases, or other exhibition furnishings, or to approach them at a distance of less than 30 cm. Visitors may only touch exhibits that are clearly labelled to that effect. Under the guidance of a GMB representative or a lecturer, visitors who are visually impaired or blind may touch selected exhibits.
  12. Photography and filming are permitted on the GMB premises provided they are for private use, do not involve the use of flash or tripod, and maintain a safe distance from exhibited works and other visitors. Photography of any works indicated with a no-photography sign is forbidden. Photography/filming for scientific or publication/promotional purposes will be permitted under restricted conditions and requires advance permission from the GMB Directorate.
  13. Within the exhibition spaces, it is forbidden to consume food or beverages, to play musical instruments or music, to use radio receivers or sound equipment, or to sing or shout except in an area designated for the purpose. Mobile phones must be used in a way that does not disturb other visitors.
  14. Persons wearing heavily soiled clothing and persons whose behaviour may damage the exhibited works or endanger other visitors are not permitted within the exhibition spaces.
  15. Visitors must follow the instructions of supervisory staff, and failure to do so may result in expulsion from the gallery. If a visitor causes damage to the GMB, either by violating these Visitor Regulations or through other inappropriate activity, a report will be drawn up together with the perpetrator. If the perpetrator is unwilling or unable to prove their identity, the assistance of the Slovak police will be requested. The scope, amount, and means of any compensation will be determined in accordance with relevant regulations.
  16. The GMB reserves the right to ask visitors to leave the gallery if they:
  • violate the Visitor Regulations,
  • disrupt the gallery's activities by their behaviour,
  • are under the obvious influence of alcohol or other drugs,
  • carry weapons (as defined in the Weapons Act) or other dangerous articles, or
  • are indecently dressed or without shoes. There is no entitlement to refund of the entrance fee in any such cases.
  1. Parents or adult companions are responsible for the behaviour of minors they accompany.
  2. Group leaders are responsible for the behaviour of individuals they organise.
  3. Exits, stairs, passageways, and escape routes must always be kept clear for safety reasons. Emergency exits may only be used in the event of an emergency. Criminal offences, or reasonable suspicion of criminal offences, must be reported immediately to supervisory staff. If an acoustic alarm is activated, the use of lifts is prohibited, and visitors should contact supervisory staff for instructions.
  4. Visitor compliments, suggestions, or complaints may be conveyed in person to the Head Supervisor, in writing in the visitors' book located in the exhibition premises, or via e-mail to the following address [email protected].
  5. It is forbidden in the courtyards of the GMB palaces to smoke, touch the fountains, enter the fountains, touch the statues, sit or stand on the rim of the fountain pool, or climb the fountain grating in the MP well. The GMB is not responsible for accidents, injuries, or damage caused by disregard of the Visitor Regulations.
  6. Protection of personal data pursuant to Act No. 18/2018 Coll., Act on the Protection of Personal Data and on Amendments and Additions to certain Acts. Promotion of Bratislava City Gallery events:
  • The visitor voluntarily agrees that the Bratislava City Gallery, Františkánske námestie 11, 815 35 Bratislava, ID No. 00179752, may process their personal data in respect to photography, audio, and audio-visual recording for the purpose of organising events, competitions, or other marketing activities, whereby images of the visitor may be taken and published on social networks and the Gallery's website for the purposes of marketing support of the Bratislava City Gallery's events.
  • Personal data will not be disclosed to a third country or international organisation. By providing personal data, you acquire the status of a data subject who has the right of access to personal data, the right to rectification of personal data, the right to erasure of personal data, the right to restriction of processing of personal data, the right to data portability, the right to object to the processing of personal data (including profiling), and the right not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing (including profiling). At the same time, the data subject has the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority, which is the Office for Personal Data Protection of the Slovak Republic. The right to withdraw consent may be exercised at any time by the data subject in the following ways: by contacting our PR department via e-mail at [email protected]; or by writing to Galéria mesta Bratislavy, Františkánske námestie 11, 815 35 Bratislava.
The Visitor Regulations are available to the public on the website www.gmb.sk and at every GMB ticket office. By entering the GMB space, the visitor declares that they have read and accepted the Visitor Regulations.
The Visitor Regulations of the Bratislava City Gallery come into force on 01.07.2023.
